Kilfrost, which provides a range of anti- and de-icing fluids for pilots across the world, will launch its first environmentally-friendly fluid, TKSsustain, this winter.
The new fluid is based on a corn sugar-based glycol called Susterra, which was initially created by DuPont Tate and Lyle Bio Products, then developed by Kilfrost’s specialist R&D team. The product is readily biodegradable, has low toxicity, and its manufacture uses up to 40% less energy than standard ethylene glycol, according to company officials.
