First international Texas Sport completed

By Janice Wood · February 2, 2010 ·

Cub

American Legend Aircraft Co. reported Feb. 2 the completion of its first international customer delivery of a Texas Sport aircraft kit. The kit was delivered to Brazil in early 2009. The new owners took approximately 10 months to complete its construction.

The kit, based on the Legend Cub design, enables amateur aircraft builders to fabricate their own Cub with any number of features and options they desire. Both the Legend Cub and Texas Sport are similar to the widely recognized J-3 Piper Cub, yet incorporate many modern features.

Features that differentiate the Texas Sport from vintage Cubs include a design with electric start that additionally provides for electrically powered instruments, avionics, and lighting options; it can be flown solo from either the front or rear seat; it stores fuel it its dual wing tanks; and the doors and windows open on both sides of the aircraft.
