Scottsdale Airport (SDL) is now the only general aviation airport in Arizona with direct access to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, according to a report in the Arizona Republic. GA airplanes now can get on-site security clearances from the TSA needed to fly directly into DCA, which has been under heightened security policies since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks due to its proximity to Washington, D.C., the report notes.
