The Cradle of Aviation Museum in Woodbury, N.Y., recently honored David Sterling, chairman and CEO of Sterling & Sterling, Inc. at its 9th Annual “Air and Space Gala” with the Donald E. Axinn Award for Community Service. Also honored at the gala were Mark Kelly, U.S. Navy Captain and Space Shuttle Commander, and Martin R. Benante, chairman and CEO of Curtiss-Wright Corporation.
Sterling is the third generation of his family to run the company, which was started by his grandfather in 1932. His firm was recently recognized as Nassau County’s Business of the Month, and is ranked among the nation’s top 100 insurance brokerages, with annual revenues over $32 million.
“Receiving this award is a real honor and to share the spotlight with a great American like Mr. Kelly is an even bigger thrill,” said Sterling. “The aviation industry has a rich history and our company’s deep knowledge of it has allowed us to provide insurance and risk management services to those that need it the most.”
