Midcoast Regional Airport (LHW) at Wright Army Airfield in Hinesville, Ga. has joined the Avfuel network of FBOs.
Named for its convenient position between the commercial hubs of Savannah and Brunswick, as well as being located midway between Charleston, S.C., and Jacksonville, Fla., Midcoast Regional Airport opened for operation in November 2007. Situated within Fort Stewart, the largest Army installation east of the Mississippi River, the airport is one of only 23 joint-use civilian/military airports in the United States.
The terminal building boasts a lounge, widescreen television, conference room, and Wi-Fi throughout. Six rocking chairs outside the front entrance invite guests to relax in the fresh coastal air. Quick turns and overnight parking are available on the ramp, and hangar space is available with a reservation.
“I’ve been a pilot for over 41 years,” said Midcoast Regional Airport General Manager Charlie Martin, “and I feel that my experiences as a pilot, aircraft owner, and visitor of many FBOs keep me and my staff a step ahead of pilots’ needs and expectations.” To that end, pilots have access to quiet snooze rooms, showers, flight planning facilities, crew cars and refreshments, among other amenities.

Having  flow in into LHW I was deeply appreciative of the service, the communications, the assistance and the outgoing helpfulness of the staff and especially Charlie while we stayed in Savannah. Â
You’ll do well flying into there.
