Texas governor proclaims Aviation Appreciation Month

Texas Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed November 2014 Aviation Appreciation Month. General aviation and commercial aviation supports hundreds of thousands of jobs in the state. The 51,000 certified pilots and more than 19,400 active aircraft flying the Texas skies contribute $59.5 billion to the state’s economy.

    “……51,000 certified pilots.”

    That would be nice if pilots were “certified” but they aren’t. Pilots are only “certificated”. It’s really too bad that the FAA has never had the courage enough to call pilots “licensed”.
