Turbo the Flying Dog extends fundraising for dog rescue

By General Aviation News Staff · February 4, 2015 ·

Victoria Zajko and Kelly Kennedy, authors of children’s picture book Turbo the Flying Dog, have extended their donation period for the West Virginia dog Rescue, Dustin’s Angels.

Originally slated to end Jan, 3, the authors will donate 10% of the proceeds from their online book sales to Dustin’s Angels through Feb. 14.

TurboDustin’s Angels is the rescue that Zajko and her husband picked up real life flying dog Turbo from by plane in December 2012. That night was the first of many flights for Turbo, who has logged over 50 hours of flight time, including trips to Canada and the Bahamas.

“They are an amazing organization,” said Zajko. “As well as matching dogs up with owners who will love and care for them, they also take in animals who need serious medical help, which can become very expensive.”

On June 27, 2012, Dustin Tyler Brown was murdered along with two other people. To cope with this loss, his little sisters and cousins decided to do something in his memory. Since Dustin loved animals, a dog rescue seemed to be the perfect choice. Over the past two years, these girls have rescued more than 1,000 dogs.
