By General Aviation News Staff · June 18, 2026 · Leave a Comment

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s Air Safety Institute has released an Early Analysis video looking at a recent incident with a Cessna 172S that included the loss of the propeller in flight.

On May 28, 2026, a Cessna 172S on a training flight from Rochester, New York, suffered smoke in the cockpit, loss of engine power, and a catastrophic engine failure that included propeller separation.

The aircraft safely landed, with the propeller found in a yard.

The 13-minute video, which includes ATC audio, explores the mission, the weather, the pilot, and what other general aviation pilots can learn from the incident.

You can see other Early Analysis videos here.
