Opening New Doors for Aspiring Aircraft Mechanics

By General Aviation News Staff · October 13, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Officials with Cascade Warbirds recently received a thank you note from the first recipient of its newly created scholarship program offering assistance to students in aircraft maintenance schools.

Kloe Manderville is a student at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington. Kloe is working toward her Airframe and Powerplant certificates, and was recommended by her faculty in collaborative review with Cascade Warbirds A&P Scholarship Chair Robin Hill.

This newly initiated program is offered at two higher education schools, Big Bend on the east side of the state, and Clover Park Technical College adjacent to Thun Field in Puyallup on the west side.

“For decades Cascade Warbirds has offered scholarships to aspiring pilots, but this program was overdue,” said Cascade Warbirds Commanding Officer Bob Stoney.

More information on the new scholarships can be found on the Cascade Warbirds website or by contacting the counseling office of each school.

Cascade Warbirds is Squadron #2 of EAA Warbirds of America. With more than 230 members, it is the largest squadron in Warbirds of America. It normally meets at the Museum of Flight in Seattle from October until flying weather returns in May.
