Picture of the Day: Whose wing are you under?
Kevin Wolley submitted this photo and note: “I landed at Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO) in Oregon in the red and white Cessna 172 and taxied to the FBO for fuel. Much to my surprise, a B-17 and a Bf-109 were on the ramp, staged for an air show at the nearby Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, home of the Spruce Goose, in McMinnville. I found this delightful view of my modest mount from the shadow of the bomber, and reflected on the airmen of World War II who were my boyhood heroes, and moved me to 25 years of flying at FedEx.”

Someone is going to get killed if this doesn’t stop
The Aircraft Y cowboys seem to think this kind of behavior is normal and acceptable. It isn’t. Landing or taking off into opposing traffic, overtaking and passing on downwind, using non-standard procedures at a one runway non-towered airport, cutting off traffic on final all have been all too frequent at KSOP.
Picture of the Day: Flying over the colorful tulip fields
Jim McGauhey submitted this photo and note: “Each spring there is a tulip festival in Skagit County, Washington. NOTAM has fixed wing flying counterclockwise at 1,000 feet and rotary at 500 feet and clockwise. Note the several colors in the fields under the cowl. Flying my homebuilt Zenith CH-650.”
