Distracted pilot hits snowbank

Kevin Wolley submitted this photo and note: “I landed at Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO) in Oregon in the red and white Cessna 172 and taxied to the FBO for fuel. Much to my surprise, a B-17 and a Bf-109 were on the ramp, staged for an air show at the nearby Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, home of the Spruce Goose, in McMinnville. I found this delightful view of my modest mount from the shadow of the bomber, and reflected on the airmen of World War II who were my boyhood heroes, and moved me to 25 years of flying at FedEx.”

Landing or taking off into opposing traffic, overtaking and passing on downwind, using non-standard procedures at a one runway non-towered airport, cutting off traffic on final all have been all too frequent at KSOP.
