John Lumkes submitted this photo and note: “Corben Meyer is piloting his S1 Pitts in for a sunset landing at Timberhouse Aero Estates in Lafayette, Indiana.”
A correlation worth noting
This past week an inexcusably argumentative exchange between a controller and a pilot, a Certificated Flight Instructor, made its way onto social media. Aside from the entertainment value some may find in this exchange, it gives aviation a black eye by linking us to the worst characteristics of humans. Arrogance, resistance to authority, complacency, deflection of blame, refusal to accept responsibility, and as if that isn’t bad enough, this all took place during an instructional flight with what we can reasonably assume was a primary student.
Wanted: One small airplane, you keep the engine

Piper’s new engine stops mid-flight
Once the engine quit, I advised Approach I was going to set the plane down on a road in town. It was the only road that had enough lamp posts to where I could actually see the road. I executed the landing with no power.
Picture of the Day: Flying no matter what the weather
Roger Struthers submitted this photo and note: “First full day of flying for Snoopy and Woodstock. On April 2, 2022, I enjoyed a nice sunny day to decorate my hangar/storage building with a homemade propeller and Snoopy and Woodstock. The next day brought snow, but nothing was going to keep them from staying the course and keep flying.”
SUN ‘n FUN lives up to its name
Flying was almost continuous in Paradise City, with a nightly STOL demonstration that attracted big crowds.
