99s

The The Ninety‑Nines, Inc. was founded on November 2, 1929, by 26 licensed U.S. women pilots who met at Curtiss Field in Valley Stream, New York.  They chose the name “Ninety-Nines” because 99 of the 117 licensed female pilots at the time signed up as charter members.  Their mission: advance women in aviation through fellowship, education, and mutual support — a mission still active today.

99s, Women in Aviation awarded $750,000 in grants from Hilton Foundation
