The The Ninety‑Nines, Inc. was founded on November 2, 1929, by 26 licensed U.S. women pilots who met at Curtiss Field in Valley Stream, New York.  They chose the name “Ninety-Nines” because 99 of the 117 licensed female pilots at the time signed up as charter members.  Their mission: advance women in aviation through fellowship, education, and mutual support — a mission still active today.

New 99s president a first
For the first time in its 93-year history, the International Organization of Women Pilots, The Ninety-Nines, have elected a pilot who is not from the United States as the organization’s president: Robin Hadfield from Ontario, Canada.
Test your piloting skills at the Okie Derby Proficiency Rally
Pilots submit speed handicaps to the nearest nautical mile per hour and fuel estimates to the nearest 10th of one gallon for the aircraft they will be flying in the Okie Derby. The winner is the pilot who flies the closest to their speed and fuel estimates.
99s to gather in Charleston
The 99s will gather in Charleston, S.C., July 6-10, 2022, for their annual conference.
99s, Women in Aviation awarded $750,000 in grants from Hilton Foundation
Women in Aviation will use its $250,000 grant to offer 47 additional scholarships in 2021, while the Ninety-Nines will use its $500,000 grant to develop additional pilot proficiency programs and increase its outreach activities.
