I hope you never encounter a truly unsafe pilot as I recently did. But if you do, I hope you safely and appropriately make an effort to address the situation. Our collective safety depends on it. You never know, that potentially uncomfortable phone call or filed report just might save a life or two.
Time running out for 2022 aircraft registrations
The high number of transactions in 2022 has led to backlogs as long as six months in processing documents at the FAA Civil Aviation Registry, according to officials with the National Business Aviation Association.

This backcountry strip is just outside the west entrance to Glacier National Park. It is one of the most spectacular places to fly in the U.S. The field is maintained by the Recreational Aviation Foundation and the amenities it has added for pilot comfort are amazing.”

33% jump in new mechanics, but more still needed
While the jump was the biggest in recent history, the increase left the total number of new mechanics short of 2019 levels and did not make up for the previous year’s 30% drop in certifications due to the pandemic, according to the report.
