Cold light rain, experienced pilots, a variety of planes, and a lot of crawfish marked the first stop for the 2023 National STOL Series. The new season kicked off March 17 at the third annual Swamp STOL Competition & Fly-In held at Jennings Airport (3R7) in Louisiana.

Powered by a Lycoming 360 engine with an 80-inch Hartzell metal propeller, Stephen’s modified 1956 Cessna 172 Skyhawk was airborne in 40 feet. He landed in 85 feet, taking first place in the Light Touring Class (below 2,300 MGTW).
