NavAware has enhanced its line of Portable Synthetic Vision products centered on Google Earth with FlightPlan – a 3D solution incorporating FAA airspace, navaids, obstacles, airports, runways, pilot-contributed waypoints, NEXRAD radar, weather, TAFs and surface conditions, winds-aloft, NOTAMs and TFRs.
“Flight Plan the way you fly, in three dimensions” said NavAware President Paul Mace. “What you see in FlightPlan is exactly what you will see out the window, only enhanced.”
Pilots can “pre-fly” their routes or use the built-in flight sim. Company officials note FlightPlan allows pilots to see their routes “photo-realistically,” lit correctly for time of day and season.
FlightPlan costs $89 and includes a one-year subscription to National Aeronautical Chart data, updated every 28 days. Google Earth is free.
