Oakland museum open new exhibit Sept. 20

By General Aviation News Staff · September 2, 2015 ·

Oakland Aviation Museum‘s newest exhibit, Legacy of World Airways, opens with a public reception, Sunday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. Also that day, the museum’s Open Cockpit Day begins at noon at the museum, which is on Oakland International Airport’s historic North Field in Oakland, Calif.

The Legacy of World Airways exhibit tells the stories of World Airways and its employees who made extraordinary impacts around the world.

“Open Cockpit Day invites museum’s visitors to sit in famous aircraft, including an A-3 Skywarrior, A-4 Skyhawk, A-7 Corsair, Harrier, and Mig-15,” said Ian Wright, museum director. “People also can walk through the Short Solent Mk 111 (pictured), a large flying boat filmed in the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark with actor Harrison Ford.”
