The first six months of 2026 were good for the general aviation industry.
According to the Second Quarter 2026 General Aviation Aircraft Shipment and Billing Report from the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), both shipments and the value of aircraft billings were higher this year, compared to the same time frame last year.
The only downside to the latest report is in the sales of piston airplanes, which decreased 3.1% to 786, as compared to 811 in the first six months of 2025.
But turboprop sales were up, increasing 7.8% to 289, while business jet sales were up even more, posting an 8.2% increase to 383.
Billings for airplanes through the second quarter of 2026 were $14.3 billion, an increase of 15.5%.
The upward trend was also seen in helicopter sales.
According to the report, sales of piston helicopters increased 5.8% to 110, while the sale of turbine helicopters increased by 3.3% to 309.
Billings for civil-commercial helicopters were $2.2 billion.
