Backcountry Aviation Foundation Raffles Three Piper J-3 Cubs

By General Aviation News Staff · October 29, 2026 · Leave a Comment

The Jim Richmond Backcountry Aviation Foundation (JRBAF) has launched its 2026-2027 charitable raffle featuring three Piper J-3 Cub aircraft as grand prizes.

Each $50 ticket provides three chances to win an aircraft, according to foundation officials, with CubCrafters Services serving as the grand prize sponsor. JRBAF will cover federal taxes for all three aircraft winners.

In addition to the aircraft, the raffle includes a weeklong stay for up to six guests at the foundation’s 45 Ranch property in the Owyhee Canyonlands of southwest Idaho. The remote property features a 2,700-foot grass airstrip at a field elevation of 4,300 feet and is accessible by air or across more than 54 miles of dirt and gravel roads. The stay may be scheduled during an available week in 2027 or 2028.

“Together, we’re opening new horizons and expanding access to America’s aviation backcountry for generations to come,” said Brad Damm, executive director of the Jim Richmond Backcountry Aviation Foundation.

Proceeds from ticket sales support JRBAF initiatives to develop public-use backcountry destinations and preserve aviation access to remote public lands.
