I had seen this aircraft at my local airport for many years, always tied down and secured, but it would change orientation so I knew it was being flown. This aircraft became my ‘white whale’ with me vowing to see it airborne at some point in my life. Today was that day, while I was photographing an event at the Hiller Aviation Museum I could hear the run-up of an unfamiliar engine. Sure enough it was the MU-2 on the other side of the runway, prepping for departure. Now to find another whale…”

High school plane-building program gets $10,000 boost

The grant will be used to match public donations to Take Flight of any size up to a total of $10,000 during the upcoming statewide NH Gives campaign, a one-day online fundraising effort that takes place June 11-12, 2024.

Grant funds solar weather station testing at Death Valley airstrip

A grant from the Recreational Aviation Foundation is funding a remote solar powered weather station at Saline Valley Warm Springs Airfield, commonly known as the Chicken Strip, in Death Valley National Park’s remote Saline Valley.
