Seattle-area school takes top honors in Aviation Design Challenge

A team from Raisbeck Aviation High School won the challenge, which required them to modify a Glasair Sportsman to fly as many COVID-19 vaccines as fast as possible from Seattle, Washington, to Packwood, Washington. The teams needed to design their aircraft to maximize transportable payload and successfully land on a small runway, surrounded by high terrain.

Applications open for Women in Aviation 2022 scholarships

Currently, there are 98 scholarships totaling $479,505 offered for flight training, engineering, maintenance, dispatcher, drones, and professional development for individuals in all stages of life. Additional scholarships and internships will be added in the coming weeks and months, with more than 100 scholarships expected to be posted by the fall, according to WAI officials.

Pietenpol test flight goes awry
