Skymasters plan Bahamas fly-in

By General Aviation News Staff · February 2, 2007 ·

The Skymasters Owners and Pilots Association will have its 2007 Fly-In at Lucaya, Bahamas, May 16-18, 2007.

Several events are planned, including Skymaster happy hour, a sunset cruise, air show and “hands-on” airport session, and a “shoot the bull” session with A&P panelists. Seminars include “How To Fly 3,100 Miles Up The Amazon Without Getting Eaten By Piranhas,” “The Great Handheld vs. Panel-Mounted GPS Debate: Which Is Better?”, and a session with C337 Electrical Systems Expert Pete Somers.

Port Lucaya, next to the city of Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama, offers lots of activities for both attendees and significant others. Plentiful restaurants, taverns and shops fill Lucaya Marketplace. There are casinos, nightly limbo contests, international shopping, and island tours.

An optional advance event is on May 14: “See Daytona Beach Like a Native.” See the famous Daytona Beach Boardwalk, historic district and Bike Week’s Main Street. A sunset happy hour will be followed by dinner at an Intracoastal Waterway riverside restaurant facing west over the water, with live island music and a “Flying to the Bahamas” briefing.

Another optional advance event occurs May 15: “Fly to Great Harbour Cay,” with an optional afternoon boat trip to the fabled “Blue Hole” featuring death-defying cliff jumping.
