Two Texas-based metal manufacturing and finishing companies (Mayday Manufacturing and Hi-Tech Metals) have been purchased by Tailwind Technologies, parent company of Hartzell Propeller.
Mayday Manufacturing, founded in 1966, is a supplier of bushings, pins, sleeves and other close-tolerance, precision-machined components for the aerospace industry. It is a supplier to Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Messier-Dowty, Goodrich. Heroux-Devtek and others.
Hi-Tech Metals, Inc. is a NADCAP accredited provider of metal finishing services, including anodizing, cadmium plating, paint/prime, black oxide, alodine and non-destructive testing.
Both companies are located in Denton, Texas, and will continue to be managed and operated by brothers Mike and Spence Nelson, whose father, Jim, established the businesses. Mayday and Hi·Tech employ more than 230 skilled people. No changes to employment or business locations are planned.
