Insurance for Sport Pilots

By Janice Wood · October 25, 2009 ·

Sport Pilots and Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) represent a huge area of growth for the aviation industry, while allowing many more individuals to take part in the thrill and enjoyment of flying, according to officials at Travers and Associates, a St. Louis-based aviation insurance agency.

“It’s important that your aviation insurance program be aligned with your specific flying category and needs,” said Chris Travers, sales manager for Travers and Associates and a third generation aviation insurance agent for the company. “We quote insurance rates based on the value of the plane and the pilot’s experience and the risk factors. Because sport aviation is typically safe and most sport airplanes are reasonably priced, insurance rates for sport pilots tend to be very affordable. We can work with sport pilots to put together a comprehensive program based on their experience and how often they fly.”

Travers and Associates, founded by World War II Naval aviator Capt. Bob Travers, specializes in private aircraft insurance, corporate aircraft insurance, commercial aviation insurance and life insurance for pilot.
