Becker Avionics unveils moving map

By Janice Wood · April 11, 2010 ·

Becker Avionics has unveiled its new MFD6203 moving map concept at the AERO2010.

The MFD6203 is a system in the common 160mm panel-mount format that provides a sophisticated moving map solution for VFR flight, company officials said, adding “optimal situational awareness is achieved through various overlay functions like terrain, weather or traffic information.” Traffic data is obtained from ADS-B or other external traffic sensors. Weather data is either loaded on the ground or received in-flight through an external satellite modem.

Thilo Scheffler, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said, “Becker Avionics has significant experience in developing multifunction displays and moving map software in a variety of aircraft platforms. The MFD6203 will be the first moving map system for private VFR aircraft that Becker Avionics introduced.“
