Felix Tormes, an orthopaedic surgeon, was installed as president of the Flying Physicians Association at its recent annual conference in Kansas City, Missouri. Tormes holds an instrument/commercial rating and has logged over 3,500 hrs as pilot in command. He is an active duty naval flight surgeon, FAA Aviation Medical Examiner and flies a Mooney M20K.
David Mauritson (Alabama) was elected president-elect, John Hunt (South Carolina) is treasurer, and Gareth Eberle (Illinois) was elected secretary. John Hall (Missouri) is the immediate past president.
Newly elected members to the association’s board of directors include Hal Renollet (California) and Kevin Ware (Washington) from the Western Chapter, Douglas Johnson (Florida) from the Dixie Chapter, Steve Towle (Minnesota) from the Great Lakes Chapter, Carl Simons (New Jersey) from the Northeast Chapter, and Al Briccetti (Colorado) from the Southwest Chapter.
Board of directors vice presidents for 2010-11 are George Shehl (West Virginia) for Dixie, Jim Pulju (Colorado) for Southwest, Julian Chestnut (Illinois) for Great Lakes, David Speranza (Pennsylvania) for Northeast, and Ron Slaughter (Nevada) for the Western Chapter.
