Mountain Flying course online

Interested in mountain flying? Before you sign up with a qualified CFI for some flight training, get prepared with the Air Safety Institute’s interactive Mountain Flying online course. You’ll be able to experiment with the effects of density altitude on aircraft performance and get to see what it’s like to traverse mountains during the daylight and at night.     Lots of courses like this available from AOPA. Glad to see you mention it. As a point of interest story, it would be interesting to know how AOPA ranks their online courses in terms of popularity. What’s their #1 course? Top 10?

    AOPA is not alone in offering online courses. A review or listing of additional online resources for courses would be useful to those pilots taking the initiative to improve their capabilities.

    It’s an excellent introduction to the basics of mountain flying! I live in Northern California just 10 minutes away from the Sierra Nevada mountains, so keeping up on the concerns of mountain flight is always near the top of my list.
