Sonex workshops hits milestone

By Janice Wood · December 8, 2011 ·

Sonex Aircraft will achieve a milestone in 2012, holding its 50th Sonex Builder Workshop on the weekend of Jan. 28-29.

This milestone comes in the kit aircraft and engine company’s 14th year of business, which has held three to four workshops a year since 1998.

The Sonex Workshop, held at the Sonex factory in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, gives current and prospective builders the opportunity to meet the Sonex staff, learn about the history of the Sonex design and its philosophy, and learn all of the ins and outs of Sonex construction. Builders gain confidence in their abilities as they build a sample piece of the Sonex wing to take home with them, company officials said. Sonex Aircraft officials say they believe so strongly in the value of these workshops that significant kit discount incentives are offered to those who attend.

Winter 2012 workshop participants also will have the opportunity to attend the EAA Chapter 252 annual banquet, held in the EAA AirVenture Museum Eagle Hangar facility. Guest Speaker for this year’s chapter 252 banquet will be none other than Sonex Aircraft Founder and President John Monnett.

Sonex Aircraft provides a series of Sport Pilot eligible kit aircraft and produces the AeroConversions line of products which include the AeroVee engine, AeroInjector and ancillary aviation products.
