For the first time, the Alaska Airmen’s Association is raffling off an experimental airplane, a CubCrafters Carbon Cub FX-3.
You don’t have to be present to win the airplane or any of the other prizes when the winning raffle ticket is chosen on May 8, 2022, during the annual Great Alaska Aviation Gathering.
Due to state of Alaska gaming rules, online ticket sales are not allowed, so you must call the association at 907-245-1251 to purchase tickets. Tickets are one for $65, five for $300, or 10 for $550.
The grand prize is the Carbon Cub FX-3, which CubCrafters officials say is the company’s “most backcountry-capable aircraft.” It boasts “an advanced powerplant by Lycoming Engines and Hartzell Propeller, along with fully IFR capable glass panel avionics from Garmin,” company officials add.
Other prizes include two round trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies, a set of new 31-inch Alaskan Bushwheels, a Garmin GTX 335 ADS-B Out transponder package, a private one-hour flightseeing package in a vintage DC-3, two ALH flying helmets, a 200-gallon fuel voucher, a Tanis engine preheater and Honda EU2200i generator, Icom VHF transceiver, and a Garmin GPS/InReach device and subscription.
According to association officials, no more than 14,000 tickets will be sold. All proceeds go to support general aviation in Alaska.
