Photo of the Day
A future pilot
Tom Bryant sent in this photo of his son, Franky, who is one and a half years old, explaining: “We had just flown back from Saturday morning breakfast at Brighton Airport (45G) in Michigan and I caught this picture of him after landing. Pretty sure he will be a pilot one day!”
Beautiful, but unforgiving
Daniel Wenke sent in these photos from a late 2016 flight over the Italian Riviera. He notes: “Very panoramic. Unforgiving terrain in case of engine failure, though. Fortunately there is a ballistic parachute on the Savannah.”
Great evening flying
Rob Blue sent in this photo, explaining: “Great evening flying from KLAF (Purdue University) to KMTO (Mattoon, Illinois) for dinner at Airport Steakhouse with my wife. This is the Wabash River as we were nearing the Illinois border with Indiana flying west.”
Are you ready for Oshkosh?
While it’s still a few months away, the GA community is getting ready for this year’s AirVenture. To help get you in the mood, here are some photos from last year’s show, taken by Sheldon Heatherington, from the “ditch” — photo pit — in the airshow box.
Turning base
Kristopher Prue-Cook sent in this photo, explaining: “Flying from Whiteman Airport in Pacoima, California, to Catalina Island. This was a beautiful shot of Twin Harbors before turning base.”
Star-struck
General Aviation News publisher Ben Sclair was there when a young fan met airshow royalty, including Sean D. Tucker (left) and Michael Goulian, at SUN ‘n FUN 2017.
Night flight
Andy McPhee sent in this photo, with a brief note: “As a student pilot, there are so many things to learn. Aviation Mechanics, Weather Theory, Calculations and on and on. As a child, I used to go to KBOS to watch the planes land and takeoff and thought it would be “cool” to fly someday. […]
Flying friends
Rafael Cortes sent in this photo, explaining: “A group of Light-Sport friends flying together around Puerto Rico. This picture was taken at Ponce’s Airport.”
