When you tell a pilot you’ve been to the Alton Bay Ice Runway in New Hampshire, they look at you a little different — it’s hard to tell if it’s a sign of respect or if they think you’re simply nuts. Maybe it’s a bit of both.

Operations up at Twin Cities GA airports

The six general aviation airports operated by the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) in Minneapolis-St. Paul grew their operations by 8%, with 352,195, takeoffs and landings in 2021, 26,151 more than in 2020.

$50,000 grant will improve, expand airstrip at Alaska’s Childs Glacier

The grant will be used to add 400 feet to the airstrip just north of the glacier’s face. Improvements also call for cutting cottonwood trees an additional 200 feet, which will yield “a reasonably safe bush strip,” according to officials with the Recreational Aviation Foundation.
