uAvionix receives patent for tailBeaconX transponder

U.S. Patent 11,011,830, “Wireless Communication System within an External Enclosure for Attachment to a Vehicle,” provides the ability to leverage the wing and tail locations of a general aviation aircraft for the installation of a transponder to gain optimal performance from both ground and space-based infrastructure, according to company officials.

Garmin Autoland receives Collier Trophy

“With avionics sales trending in the right direction over the last nine months, it appears that a slow and steady industry recovery is underway,” said AEA President and CEO Mike Adamson. “The last six months of 2020 saw a rebound in retrofit sales, and it’s encouraging to see forward-fit sales up sharply from the previous quarter in the aircraft manufacturing sector. As new products are introduced at the AEA Convention in June and EAA’s AirVenture in July, I’m hopeful that avionics manufacturers will be able to clear some of the supply chain hurdles they face and continue this upward trend.”

Gary Jet Center becomes Cirrus Aircraft Authorized Service Center

Based at the Gary/Chicago International Airport (KGYY), Gary Jet Center will have trained technicians on both the SR-Series piston aircraft and the Vision Jet, according to company officials. In addition to routine and annual maintenance, Gary Jet Center will offer composite and paint repair, warranty support, CAPS inspection and recertification, ADS-B incorporation, Garmin and Avidyne avionics servicing, and air conditioning service.
