Garmin autopilot certified for Piper Meridians, Smart Rudder Bias certified for Cessna 414A

Smart Rudder Bias continuously monitors engine parameters using Engine Indication System (EIS) data displayed on a G500 TXi or G600 TXi flight display and activates when the system detects a predetermined power differential between each engine. Once activated, rudder force is adjusted to aid a pilot in providing enough force to the rudder to help control a sideslip.

Piper Aircraft has achieved certification of the new Garmin GWX 8000 weather radar in all M-Class aircraft, such as the M600SLS, M500, and M350. Piper is the first general aviation manufacturer to certify the all-digital radar in a turboprop or piston product, according to company officials.

Garmin’s Smart Glide helps in emergencies when your engine loses power

In the event of the loss of engine power in a single-engine aircraft, a pilot faces the urgent, workload-intensive job of maneuvering the aircraft from its current position to a suitable airport. Smart Glide provides assistance by recommending a suitable airport estimated to be within glide range, as well as providing critical information to the pilot and optimizing select avionics settings, helping save the pilot time and workload.
