CFI doesn’t listen when student says engine doesn’t sound right

I think that it is important to heed the alerts from all of those on board. I could have paid more attention to my student mentioning the noise from the engine. I might have been able to detect an issue before we were en route.

It took around 700 hours to build the EX3, which features a Garmin G3X and autopilot. It is powered by an experimental 363i Lycoming engine, which produces 186 hp.”

Happy accidents and gratifying outcomes

Of all the challenging landings I’ve greased, of all the long cross-countries I’ve accomplished without getting lost, and of the various in-flight challenges I’ve overcome safely, nothing compares to the satisfaction I get when a cluster of kids rebuilds an engine, then watches it run for the first time. And that’s to say nothing of the look on their faces when they exit the airplane after their first time at the controls.
