MOSAIC has brought general aviation a remarkable gift: Fewer limitations, enhanced privileges, and a far wider selection of aircraft for pilots to choose from. But many in the GA community don’t understand the new rule and how it applies to them.

Closing the Maintenance Gap for Powered Parachutes
Developed by veteran instructor Roy Beisswenger, the course is for powered parachute pilots, mechanics, and prospective aircraft owners seeking deeper technical knowledge and confidence in maintaining their aircraft.
SilverLight Flagship Aircraft Now Available as Factory Built
“We have been working directly with the industry and FAA to complete the ASTM standards required by MOSAIC and are confident that our aircraft will meet and exceed these standards,” said Abid Farooqui, President and Founder of SilverLight Aviation, adding that the company is now taking orders for the factory-built AR-1s.
Flight Tests Begin on New Twin Trainer
The Polish aircraft, expected to make its debut in the U.S. in 2027, is being designed to fly under the new MOSAIC rules.
New FAA Website Clarifies MOSAIC Policy on Repairman Certificates
According to officials with the Experimental Aircraft Association, the section on light-sport repairmen is of particular interest to the general aviation community, as the privileges of these certificates were expanded by MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification). Under the new rules, holders of the Repairman Light Sport certificates can now also conduct condition inspections on experimental amateur-built (E-AB) aircraft in addition to light-sport aircraft.
Just the facts
While the general aviation industry hailed the passage of the FAA’s final Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rule in July 2025, many still remain confused about what it really means. To help increase understanding, the FAA recently released a MOSAIC Fact Sheet that breaks down the important dates, the changes, and what is coming later in 2026.
MOSAIC brings new inspection privileges for homebuilders
“These are welcome options for many E-AB owners who, unlike experimental light-sport aircraft (E-LSA) owners, cannot obtain inspection privileges for their own aircraft if they were not the original, primary builder,” association officials said. “EAA has long advocated for these privileges and was pleased to see them included in the final MOSAIC rule.”
The benefits of MOSAIC to homebuilt aircraft builders
A recent missive from Sebastien Heintz at Zenith Aircraft Company details how Zenith builders and owners can benefit from the new MOSAIC rule from the FAA.
Sport Pilot 2.0 era takes off
“Sport Pilot 2.0 gives more people than ever the opening to pursue their dreams of putting themselves in the pilot seat and enjoying the unique perspectives of flight,” said EAA officials.
