FBO hosts holiday toy drive

By General Aviation News Staff · December 12, 2016 ·

FORT WORTH, Texas – More than 200 toys and 75 bicycles were collected at the fourth annual holiday luncheon and toy drive hosted by American Aero FTW at Meacham International Airport.

The event benefits the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

American Aero FTW employees, airport tenants, and clients, as well as area firefighters and police officers, attended the festivities and brought donations.

Each year, Toys for Tots requests new, unwrapped toys to distribute as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children.

“This is an extraordinary event that will benefit hundreds of area children,” said Cpl. Edward Dimas, representing the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. “The holiday season just got a little bit brighter thanks to the generosity of the aviation community at Meacham.”

“Celebrating the holidays with our airport neighbors and friends by giving back to our local community has become a very special tradition for us,” said Riggs Brown, American Aero FTW general manager. “The Toys for Tots program benefits about 150,000 children throughout Tarrant and surrounding North Texas counties, and we are proud to contribute to their efforts.”

The luncheon took place in a hangar at Meacham, which is currently undergoing renovation. The airport’s new terminal building is scheduled to open Jan. 24, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city officials and local dignitaries.
