“The TSO is the first step of approval from the Federal Aviation Administration for our composite float program,” said Brad Kutz, vice president of engineering for Wipaire.
Hartzell Propeller has received an STC for a new prop for the Diamond DA40, while it works with Wipaire to get an STC for its Yukon propeller on the Cessna Caravan.
“There is up to a 26% decrease in total takeoff distance from land and up to a 31% decrease from water,” added JJ Frigge, president, Hartzell Propeller. “This translates into safer takeoffs and landings on smaller lakes and shorter runways.”
Wipaire recently sold Federal Fluidyne Skis to F. Atlee Dodge in Anchorage, Alaska.
In October 2022, Wipaire delivered its 150th set of Wipline 13000 floats to Trans Maldivian Airways, the world’s largest seaplane operator.
Wipaire delivered its 500th set of 2100A floats in March 2021. They were installed on an Aviat A-1C-180 Husky.
Made of 100% lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel, the collapsible steps can be stowed in the float locker.
Charlie replaces his father, Bob, who is now in semi-retirement.
Wipaire has received an FAA STC to increase the Cessna Grand Caravan’s gross weight 125 pounds to 9,187 pounds on Wipline 8750 floats. The STC is available for aircraft powered by the PT6A-140 engine.
