AmSafe Aviation has signed an agreement to provide the AmSafe Seatbelt Airbag system on Light Sport Aircraft manufactured by Paradise USA. The model number covered under this new agreement is the P1 , which is an FAA certified SLSA.
The AmSafe Seatbelt Airbag is currently installed as standard equipment in both the pilot and co-pilot seats on more than 80% of all new single-piston engine general aviation aircraft, according to company officials. The agreement with Paradise to install seatbelt airbags on the P1 makes the life-saving device also available to LSA aircraft.
The AmSafe Seatbelt Airbag is a self-contained, modular restraint designed to improve occupant protection from serious head-impact injury and to enhance one’s ability to exit the aircraft following an otherwise survivable accident. When the airbag’s sensors detect a crash, an airbag built into the restraint deploys up and away from the seat occupant – unlike automobile airbags which deploy toward the occupant.

An airbag is a vehicle safety device. It is an occupant restraint consisting of a flexible envelope designed to inflate rapidly in an automobile collision, to prevent vehicle occupants from striking interior objects such as the steering wheel or window.
