Its content accounts for the latest FAA test standards, including new risk management considerations and chapters covering all Areas of Operation and Tasks.

The AOPA Air Safety Institute (ASI) has released a new video in its Beyond Proficient: IFR video series that provides tools and tips on IFR flight plan filing for pilots.
Town lobbies to save ATC services at KJYO
The FAA has informed the staff at Leesburg Executive Airport in Virginia that it is canceling the Remote Tower Program. While ATC services are scheduled to end June 14, 2023, town officials say they are hopeful that a solution will be found to allowing “uninterrupted ATC services” at the airport.

Swamp STOL Competition kicks off 2023 series
Cold light rain, experienced pilots, a variety of planes, and a lot of crawfish marked the first stop for the 2023 National STOL Series. The new season kicked off March 17 at the third annual Swamp STOL Competition & Fly-In held at Jennings Airport (3R7) in Louisiana.

Long Island mechanic honored
During a special ceremony held April 5, 2023, the FAA awarded its Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award to Long Island aviation mechanic Ed Libassi.
