Airport’s Lack of Emergency Response Plan Leads to Accident

By General Aviation News Staff · January 24, 2026 · 7 Comments

Probable Cause: Airport personnel’s failure to properly prioritize their response actions, including updating the airport’s automated weather observation system recording in a timely manner to notify incoming pilots of a runway closure, which resulted in an airplane striking an immobilized airplane on the runway during landing at night. How Can I Keep Flying While I Get My Engine Overhauled?

By Paul McBride · January 22, 2026 · 3 Comments

William’s Question: I want to get my engine overhauled. Not because of any operating problems, but because it has been 35 years since overhaul. After contacting overhaul shops I find that due to the work force shortage, overhaul times are now in the six to eight month or more time frame. I don’t want to stop flying to overhaul an engine that the only problem is 35 years since it was last overhauled.
