Since 1973, seaplane pilots have gathered at Moosehead Lake in Maine for the annual Greenville International Seaplane Fly-In. This year’s fly-in, the 42nd, was held Sept. 10-13.
The International Seaplane Fly-In brings thousands of participants and spectators to the Moosehead Region on the weekend after Labor Day each year. (Next year’s fly-in will be held Sept. 8-11).
The fly-in is hosted by the International Seaplane Fly-In Association, a non-profit organization whose main focus is to provide aviation education (and a whole lot of fun) to participants and spectators alike. The organization provides a scholarship each year to a high school student who plans to pursue a career in aviation.
Photographer Brian Neidhardt was at the show this year and captured these absolutely stunning photographs.
Hi Ben and Brian,
Thanks for the great pics, and thank you for acknowledging the International Seaplane Fly-In. This event is most certainly one of the country’s premiere aviation events every year, but also one of the best kept secrets in the GA community. Tons of fun. We normally have great weather for it, and it should be on everyone’s aviation bucket list. There is something for everyone at the Seaplane Fly-In. In addition to everything there is to see and do there, it is the “Olympic Games” of seaplane competition. There are competitions in numerous categories going on almost non-stop over the weekend, and you can watch many highly skilled flyers in action. I personally haven’t missed this event in decades. Unfortunately, I did miss it this year as I was on an important business trip to InterDrone in Las Vegas. Vegas was fun too, but it’s definitely NOT Greenville Maine! Thanks again for sharing the Seaplane Fly-In news with everyone!
