Hydrogen-electric Bonanza in the works
Stralis is currently testing its hydrogen electric propulsion system (HEPS) with two Bonanza A36 aircraft in Australia, known as “Bonnie” and “Clyde.” The company integrates its proprietary fuel cell system, liquid hydrogen tanks, and electric motors into existing Bonanza aircraft, replacing the current piston engine.
Dual electronic ignition introduced in Skyhawks
The dual Lycoming electronic ignition system is now standard on all new Cessna Skyhawk aircraft, replacing the previous dual magneto ignition system.
Blocked fuel tank vent leads to fuel starvation
Probable Cause: The blockage of the left fuel tank vent, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation. Contributing to the accident of the pilot’s failure to use his checklist to address the loss of engine power.
