I am once again thinking of an airplane that might grace my hangar. But which one? There are so many to choose from. Classics, biplanes, taildraggers, zippy quick composite machines, and the stalwart aluminum monocoque models of the mid-20th Century all take up space in my imagination from time to time. But the perfect airplane has to have the right price and fit the mission for this stage of my life.

Latest numbers shows ‘progress’ for GA
In its general aviation aircraft shipments and billings report for the first quarter of 2021, GAMA reports that deliveries increased for turbine helicopters and propeller airplanes, while business jet and piston helicopter shipments were flat compared to the same period of 2020, which in its closing weeks saw the onset of the pandemic.
What a difference a year makes
The preowned aircraft market in April 2021 had double the deals of a year ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic effectively shut down the world. Members of the International Aircraft Dealers Association closed 106 deals in April 2021, compared to just 53 in April 2020.
