Student pilot wins Sporty’s scholarship
Christopher Barnes is now ready to make his dreams of becoming a pilot a reality by training toward a private pilot certificate at Reigle Field (58N) in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. Once he earns his fixed-wing certification, Christopher plans on pursuing his glider certificate at a local soaring club.
Tailwheel scholarship offered for fourth year
The scholarship will award $1,000 in cash and $1,000 in credit towards flight training towards a tailwheel endorsement to one female pilot. Training will take place at Quad Cities International Airport (KMLI) in Moline, Illinois, in a 1946 Piper J-3 Cub.

Hayward Air Rally debuts new scholarship
In previous years, the rally sponsored up to three high school students to attend a one-week summer session of the EAA Air Academy in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, including tuition and roundtrip airfare. Due to increasing costs and logistical challenges, rally officials suspended the camp sponsorship in favor of a monetary scholarship.
Boeing donates $950,000 for flight training scholarships
Boeing is donating $500,000 to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Latino Pilots Association, Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, Sister of the Skies, and Women in Aviation. It’s donating another $450,000 to Fly Compton.
Applications open for bizav scholarships
The International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) is accepting applications for business aviation scholarships through Sept. 1, 2023. Scholarships funded by the IADA Foundation range from $1,000 to $5,000.
