Boeing donates $950,000 for flight training scholarships
Boeing is donating $500,000 to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Latino Pilots Association, Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, Sister of the Skies, and Women in Aviation. It’s donating another $450,000 to Fly Compton.
Tecnam P-Mentor lands in the U.S
While at Oshkosh, Tecnam also revealed the flight schools in the U.S. that will be the launch customers for the P-Mentor: Kilo Charlie Aviation in Kansas, Vermont Flight Academy, Melbourne Flight Training in Florida, and Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas.
Redbird Tracon updated
The company’s multi-simulator classroom management software enables instructors to control multiple simulator sessions simultaneously from one centralized interface. The update also allows two-way communication between instructors and students.
Cirrus launches new private pilot training program
The new Private Pilot Program provides ground school training partnered with a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP) through a Cirrus Training Center (CTC) to help students complete their private pilot certificate in a Cirrus aircraft.
ATP opens new flight training center in LA area
The new location at Brackett Field in La Verne, California, marks ATP’s 83rd training center nationwide and third in the Los Angeles area, with locations already established at Long Beach and Riverside.
Able Flight Class of 2023 receive wings at Oshkosh
Able Flight scholarships recipients Tyler Cernik, Bobby Dove, Melvin Du, Leslie Irby, Andrew Kurka, Dijon McCorkle, and William Scheremet earned pilot certificates during an intensive training program at Purdue University between late May and early July.
Flying safely in our golden years
There are more than 160,000 general aviation pilots aged 60 and older still flying, so it’s incumbent on those pilots to maintain proficiency, recognize cognitive and physiological deficiencies as they arise, reevaluate personal minimums, and adjust their flying to accommodate the inevitable changes that occur with aging.
