My adrenaline was through the roof after landing
To be honest, I only feel like I was able to deal with this situation because of my training on the fundamentals of flight. We never practiced anything like it, but I knew I had to slow that plane down by any means necessary, and that picking up speed on approach could be fatal.

Picture of the Day: Father and son flight
Jay Wilkes submitted this photo and note: “This is a photo of my father Jack Wilkes and me taking a flight in a Thorp T-211 he bought at SUN ‘n FUN back in 2007. He had just turned 80 and was looking for a smaller plane to keep him flying. You can tell by his big smile this was a good day. He had a hangar and house at Freedom Field (AL41) in Slocomb, Alabama. Unfortunately he sold it not long after this was taken. He flew west in May 2014. We used to fly to air shows together, including EAA AirVenture Oshkosh and SUN ‘n FUN. I miss flying with him.”
