First flight: Diamond’s electric DA40

Cutting the time to search for crashed airplanes
The Civil Air Patrol has partnered with uAvionix Corporation to deploy an ADS-B receiver network to complement FAA sensor data with low altitude aircraft positions to shorten the time it takes to search for and rescue crashed and missing general aviation aircraft.
Hayward Air Rally debuts new scholarship
In previous years, the rally sponsored up to three high school students to attend a one-week summer session of the EAA Air Academy in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, including tuition and roundtrip airfare. Due to increasing costs and logistical challenges, rally officials suspended the camp sponsorship in favor of a monetary scholarship.
King Schools releases new maintenance course
King Schools has released “Cleared for Aviation Maintenance,” a course that includes a home-study course, written exam test prep, and a complete syllabus that meets the requirements for aviation maintenance technician schools under the new FAA FAR Part 147.
